Dear all,
Please note that this update from the Council confirms some information on Edlington Pool which has been circulated previously on social media groups.
We continue to train at Dearne Valley Pool for the foreseeable future which so far has worked out well (despite the heat and the railway crossing😉) with the swimmers having worked brilliantly in the new training environment.
Thank you all for your continuous support and commitment to our club. 💚

Edlington Pool Update
13/06/2021
Dear Stingrays and Parents,
First of all, thank you all for your patience during our decamping to Dearne Valley last year and in the last two months.
You are of course all aware that the DCLT has been experiencing an issue with the repair of a pump at Edlington Pool.
I have now been informed by the DCLT that in acknowledgement of both this issue and the need for significant investment in the venue, the Council have accelerated funding to address the age of the plant and building and also the level of finance required to bring the facilities up to date and fit for purpose.
This is brilliant news as we have long been hoping for investment at Edlington and whilst there was some prospect of this happening some time in the future, it is great that this has now been set in motion.
The DCLT will now arrange for surveys to take place, which are crucial in determining not just condition survey works, but development works.
The decision has therefore been made that in order to commence at Edlington pool as soon as possible, the pool will remain closed and the DCLT is asking us to continue swimming at Dearne Valley pool. It is anticipated that the works will run into 2022, with an early Spring reopening.
I know that this is not necessarily the message you have all been hoping for. On the other hand, it is great news that all the works needed at Edlington pool will now take place and the DCLT has assured us that the pool will reopen with a much better operating model than before.
Our sessions will therefore continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays as currently but we will also discuss possibilities for a third session with the DCLT. We will also look at session times and structure for our continuing swimming at Dearne to get the best possible training for all there. Any changes/information will be announced here - so please keep your eyes open.
I hope - on reflection - you can all agree with me that this is a great opportunity for our home pool to become a much better venue.
In the meantime, I hope you can stick with us at Dearne and enjoy the swimming there. Swimmers - you have all impressed us with your brilliant and upbeat attitude during this time and I am sure I speak on behalf of all volunteers that it is a pleasure to be part of the green team.
See you at Dearne next week!
Edlington Pool Update
25/05/2021
Dear all,
Regrettably, we have been informed today by the DCLT that the boiler at Edlington pool is still not functional to such a level that the pool can open.
The external contractor has given a window of another 2 weeks to resolve the issue and the DCLT has therefore asked us to remain at Dearne Valley until the week commencing 7th June.
Many thanks for your patience and understanding!
Edlington Pool Update
07/05/2021
We are very disappointed to have to tell you that we have been informed this morning by the DCLT that the repairs in Edlington have not been completed in time for our planned return.
Therefore, we will remain at Dearne for the remainder of May. If the repairs at Edlington are finished earlier, then we will move earlier. Otherwise she should be back there at the beginning of June.
As we are remaining at Dearne, we will also continue to train on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We can imagine that these are not welcome news but there is nothing we can do about the situation. Speaking on behalf of the committee, we are just as disappointed as you will be.
Many thanks for all your understanding in this tedious situation.
Edlington Pool Update ........
21/4/2021
The DCLT has informed us that cause for the problems last Friday was a malfunctioning of one of the boilers heating the pool water. There was no fire.
Repair works have to be carried out and we hope to be back at Edlington pool from Monday 10th May.
Until then, we remain at Dearne Valley swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Thank you all for your understanding.
Back to Dearne Valley ........
19/4/2021
Due to the issues experianced at Edlington last week with smoke in the pump room we will swim at Dearne Valley this week as follows:
Tuesday and Thursday
18:30 - 19:00 Lanes 1 & 4 Development Squad
19:00 - 19:45 Lanes 1 & 4 Mini Squad
18:30 - 19:45 Lanes 2 & 3 Junior Squad
19:45 - 21:00 All Lanes Senior Squad.
Updates will be made with regards to returning to Edlington as soon as we have more detail from DCLT.
Swimming CANCELLED 12/4/2021
12/4/2021
Stingrays,
I am gutted to announce this but I have just been informed by the DCLT that, due to a technical fault at the pool, the chlorine levels in the water are far too high and could cause health problems including skin rashes and breathing problems.
Engineers are at the pool to rectify the problem but it will not be ready in time for tonight’s sessions.
We have to stay dry for another 2 days.
Returning to Edlington Monthly Fees
07/04/2021
Please note that the usual monthly fees of £20 will be due from this month onwards.
Please do not forget to re-activate or set up again your standing order.
A fee review will also take place as per the club's constitution at the Annual General Meeting on 13 May 2021.
Any fees paid in January to March 2021 can be used for April fees onwards.
Refunds will be made for January to March paid fees if requested by email to edlotreasurer@gmail.com (please quote account holder name, account number and sort code).
Many thanks
Returning to Edlington
04/04/2021
Dear Stingrays and parents,
In the next few days, you will be receiving emails from Gemma with your new session times for our return to Edlington Pool on 12th April 2021.
Due to Covid, we are still swimming with a reduced lane capacity of only 8 swimmers per lane and our coaches have therefore had to work hard to ensure every swimmer receives sufficient water time to further their swimming.
Regrettably and due to these capacity restrictions, we are able to offer sessions only to swimmers who have been swimming with us at Dearne Valley Pool. We hope that this will change once Covid rules are relaxed and we can go back to 10 swimmers per lane.
Our new sessions are as follows:
6.30pm-7pm Lanes 1+ 4 Development Squad
7pm-7.45pm Lanes 1 + 4 Mini Squad
6.30pm-7.45pm Lanes 2 + 3 Junior Squad
7.45pm-9pm All Lanes Senior Squad.
You will have noticed that we have introduced a new Junior Squad which will include more advanced Mini Squad swimmers and junior members of the Senior Squad. This is to ensure that we can offer the water time of 1h15mins to more swimmers.
Should you have any queries, please email me on edlochairman@gmail.com.
Many thanks and see you soon.
Immediate COVID Closure
04/01/2021
After tonight's announcement by the PM Boris Johnson we sadly confirm, in line with the new national lockdown the club will temporarily close from 04/01/2021 until further notice.
Please do everything you can to stay safe at this current time and we hope to open our doors once this all settles down.
Keep your eyes open for further updates when we have them, feel free to share how you are staying fit both physically and mentally on our Facebook page

Saturday 17th October Training Session cancelled...parents/swimmers’ apologies for short notice but tomorrow’s session has been cancelled due to lack of poolside coverage. Normal service will be resumed on Tuesday. Again, sorry for short notice. Please share.
🏊🏻🏊♀️ THE NEWS WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR 🏊♀️🏊♂️
The mighty greens are back Saturday 1st August 2020.
Firstly, I think it is only fair to recognise the hard work that the volunteers of our club have done to make this possible.
To be ready on the first day that the centre opens is even more incredible. The team work shown outside of the pool mirrored with our culture of team first in the pool makes Edlington Stingrays THE best club in Doncaster.
We should all be proud 💚
Things will look different when we return. There are rules we will need to follow and strictly implement but we want our members to come to the pool and ENJOY the experience of being part of our great team once more.
The intital return will see the following session times implemented and new names for development, mini squad and squad. (Development and mini squad has effectively merged)
Tuesday
18:30 - 19:30 - Junior Squad
19:45 - 21:45 - Senior Squad
Thursday
18:30 - 19:30 - Junior Squad
19:45 - 21:45 - Senior Squad
Saturday
14:30 - 15:30 - Junior Squad
15:40 - 16:40 - Junior Squad
14:30 - 16:30 Squad
(These squads will operate a dual session over separate lanes)
Please be aware that ALL session times are subject to change as the laws and guidelines allow.
You will shortly be sent your allocated sessions for your swimmer via email from our club secretary. Please DO NOT turn up to any session you are not allocated - you will not be accepted - we have done our very best to accommodate your requests for sessions.
To put things in perspective we are allowed a MAXIMUM of 29 swimmers in the pool at the moment down from 40 previously at Edlington (this is temporary and will Increase as time progresses and guidelines change)
Our expectation is you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your session time for registration (we will not accept late swimmers due to regulations) More on this and the process at the pool to follow shortly.
DCLT will monitor our adherence to the rules and if our members do not co-operate with rules we will reserve the right to review membership
You are welcome to ask any questions on our Facebook thread or by emailing the usual Edlo Conacts.
Lastly - We cannot wait to welcome all our swimmers back - it has been too long - 💚
17/3/2020
Dear Stingrays and Parents,
In light of the recent government advice to limit socialising and personal contacts and following advice issued by Swim England tonight, the committee has made the difficult decision to suspend training with immediate effect until the end of May.
We hope that you can all understand this step that we feel we had to take to protect all swimmers’, their families’ and our volunteers’ health in these exceptional circumstances.
Monthly fee payments should please be stopped and we will give sufficient notice for payments to be rearranged once we are back swimming.
We hope that all swimmers and their families keep safe and stay healthy and that we can see you all back at the pool in the hopefully not so distant future.
Don’t worry, we have arranged for the Easter Bunny to visit us when we’re back!
